Just after midnight on November 30, Mike Selvera (head chef),
Carina Lampkin (sous chef) and Gracie
Sholl (server), were sharing
a cab home from work. Another car evidently ran a red light and broadsided
the cab, which spun out, hitting a pole and another parked car.
Gracie Sholl suffered severe internal injuries and died in the hospital several
hours later. Carina Lampkin remains in the Intensive Care Unit with a broken
pelvis, broken ribs, and internal injuries. Mike Selvera underwent surgery to
address a broken jaw, and also suffered several broken ribs, lacerations, and
lung bleeding. The driver of the taxi sustained minor injuries and has been released
from the hospital.
Bar Crudo is a small restaurant with a small staff. This accident has been a
blow to us both personally and professionally.
Many wonderful people have called and written with condolences and questions
about how they can help.
